Each MMA1T00-VS uses 4 transmit and 4 receive VCSEL lanes at 50 Gb/s PAM4 per lane in the 850 nm multimode window. With OM3 fiber the typical reach is approximately 70 m, extending to roughly 100 m on OM4. The module supports DDM/DOM, exposing per-lane optical power and temperature to the host switch or NIC. The QSFP56 cage is electrically backward-compatible with QSFP28 ports, but 200G operation requires a host port that supports PAM4 lanes; the module will not negotiate 200G on a NRZ-only QSFP28 cage.

Compatibility & Constraints

Compatible with NVIDIA Spectrum-2 / Spectrum-3 switches and ConnectX-6 / ConnectX-6 Dx adapters in 200GbE mode. The QSFP56 module is electrically backward-compatible with QSFP28 cages, but 200G PAM4 operation requires a 200G-capable host port — on a 100G QSFP28 port the module will only run at 100G if the host supports it. Use OM4 multimode fiber with MPO-12 patch cords for full reach; OM3 reduces the supported distance. Not a single-mode part and not interoperable with FR4/LR4 modules.
