NVIDIA Mellanox MCP7Y40-N002 800G OSFP to 4x 200G QSFP112 NDR200 Passive Copper Hybrid Breakout DAC, 2 meters: This is a 2 meters passive copper Direct Attach Cable (DAC) that fans out a single 800G OSFP InfiniBand NDR switch port into four independent 200G QSFP112 NDR200 downlinks. This is a fixed-length passive twinax assembly with no DSPs, retimers, or optics. This is NOT compatible with HDR 200G QSFP56 ports — NDR200 uses 2x100G PAM4 lanes, while HDR 200G uses 4x50G lanes. This is a new unit.

Engineering Context

The MCP7Y40-N002 functions as a radix multiplier in NVIDIA Quantum-2 NDR fabrics. OSFP 800G carries 8 lanes of 100G PAM4; each QSFP112 leg receives 2 lanes for 200Gb/s NDR200 operation. A single 32-port 800G switch becomes 128x 200G endpoints when populated with this fanout, providing 4x port density without adding switch hardware. Passive copper introduces no DSP latency and consumes zero port power. Conductor is 28 AWG with an LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket. At 2 meters, the cable operates with comfortable signal margin for 100G PAM4 per lane.

Compatibility & Constraints

Compatible with NVIDIA Quantum-2 NDR switches with OSFP ports configured for split / breakout mode, and with QSFP112 endpoints such as ConnectX-7 200G adapters. Not compatible with HDR 200G QSFP56 adapters (different lane structure: 2x100G PAM4 vs 4x50G NRZ). Not compatible with QSFP-DD ports. Switch port must be configured for 4x200G breakout in the InfiniBand subnet manager. Fixed 2 meter length, no field re-termination.
