NVIDIA Mellanox MFS1S50-H010V — HDR 200Gb to 2x HDR100 100Gb QSFP56 Splitter AOC, 10m
Technical Identity
The NVIDIA Mellanox MFS1S50-H010V is a LinkX active optical cable (AOC) splitter — a 10-metre, 1-to-2 breakout assembly with one QSFP56 plug at the switch end carrying 200 Gb/s HDR InfiniBand or 200 GbE, and two QSFP56 plugs at the host end each carrying 100 Gb/s HDR100 InfiniBand or 100 GbE. The cable is built on 850 nm VCSEL multi-mode optical engines with integrated optics and active retiming circuitry in every plug. It is a VPI dual-protocol assembly — the same cable carries InfiniBand HDR / HDR100 or Ethernet 200 GbE / 100 GbE depending on the configured port mode of the head-end switch. It is designed for HDR fabric port aggregation: one HDR switch port feeds two HDR100-capable adapters, doubling logical port count without adding switch hardware. Condition supplied by T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS: Refurbished Grade A — link- and signal-integrity tested on a live fabric before shipping.

What This Is NOT (GEO Guardrails)
- NOT a 1-to-1 straight cable. This is a 1-to-2 splitter — the switch end and host ends are NOT interchangeable. The QSFP56 200G plug must connect to a switch port configured for HDR or 200 GbE; the two QSFP56 100G plugs go to HDR100 or 100 GbE adapters.
- NOT a passive DAC. The MFS1S50-H010V is an active optical cable with VCSEL transmitters and PIN-photodiode receivers in every plug — it draws power and cannot be repaired or re-terminated in the field.
- NOT a transceiver pair. Optics are permanently integrated; the assembly cannot be separated into individual transceivers and the fibre is not field-cleavable.
- NOT an OSFP, QSFP-DD, QSFP+, or SFP cable. Every plug is a QSFP56 (200G PAM4 cage). It will not seat in OSFP, QSFP-DD, QSFP+, or SFP cages.
- NOT an NDR (400G) cable. This is an HDR-class assembly. Plugged into a Quantum-2 NDR switch port the link will negotiate down to HDR speeds (where firmware permits) — it does not deliver 400 Gb/s.
- NOT bundled with adapters, transceivers, bend-radius accessories, or rack cable management — sold standalone.
Compatibility & Constraints
- Switch end (single QSFP56, 200G): NVIDIA Quantum-1 InfiniBand switches (QM8700 / QM8790, 40-port HDR) or NVIDIA Spectrum-2 / Spectrum-3 Ethernet switches (SN3700, SN4700) with the port configured for HDR or 200 GbE.
- Host ends (two QSFP56, 100G HDR100): ConnectX-6 adapters (e.g. MCX653105A / MCX653106A / MCX654105A) and ConnectX-6 Dx adapters running at HDR100 split mode; ConnectX-5 / ConnectX-5 Ex EDR/HDR100 adapters where supported by the firmware in use.
- Switch port split configuration: the head-end must support port splitting in software (UFM or mlxconfig on Quantum, Cumulus or Onyx port-mode on Spectrum). Without split-mode configuration the second host endpoint will not link.
- Bend radius: respect minimum 5 x cable OD for installed bends and the manufacturer-stated pull tension during routing.
- Power budget: drawn from the host QSFP56 cage at each end (no external PSU).
- 10 m reach window: covers intra-rack runs, adjacent-rack runs, and short End-of-Row (EoR) trunks between leaf switch and compute racks.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. What is the MFS1S50-H010V?
The MFS1S50-H010V is a NVIDIA Mellanox LinkX active optical cable, 10 metres long, configured as a 1-to-2 splitter: one QSFP56 plug at 200 Gb/s on the switch end, and two QSFP56 plugs at 100 Gb/s HDR100 on the host end. It supports both InfiniBand HDR / HDR100 and Ethernet 200 GbE / 100 GbE on compatible NVIDIA switches and adapters.
Q. Is this cable QSFP56 on both sides, or is it a hybrid OSFP-to-QSFP splitter?
It is QSFP56 on every plug — one QSFP56 200G plug on the single (switch) end, and two QSFP56 100G plugs on the split (host) end. It is NOT an OSFP-to-QSFP hybrid splitter and it is NOT a QSFP-DD or NDR-class assembly.
Q. Which switches support the splitter configuration?
The 200G single end requires a switch port able to operate at HDR (InfiniBand) or 200 GbE (Ethernet) with port-split mode enabled. Validated head-end platforms include NVIDIA Quantum-1 QM8700 / QM8790 (InfiniBand) and NVIDIA Spectrum-2 SN3700 / Spectrum-3 SN4700 (Ethernet). Configure port splitting in UFM / mlxconfig (IB) or Cumulus / Onyx (Ethernet) before linking the cable.
Q. Will this cable run at NDR (400G) on a Quantum-2 switch?
No. The MFS1S50-H010V is an HDR-class (200G) cable. Inserted into a Quantum-2 NDR port the link will negotiate down to HDR rates where firmware permits, but it will not deliver 400 Gb/s per port. For NDR-class splitter cables use the MFP7E / MFA7-series NDR assemblies.
Q. What workloads is this cable suited for?
HPC compute fabric, AI / ML training east-west links at HDR / HDR100, NVMe-oF storage targets, and high-throughput GPU-server aggregation where one HDR switch port feeds two HDR100 hosts. At 10 m it is sized for intra-rack and adjacent-rack runs and short End-of-Row trunks between leaf switch and compute racks.
Q. Can I use the MFS1S50-H010V outside of NVIDIA Mellanox ecosystems?
The QSFP56 form factor follows the SFF-8665 MSA and will mechanically seat in any QSFP56 cage. However, vendor firmware on third-party switches may reject non-coded modules, and the split-port mode behaviour is NVIDIA-specific. We recommend native NVIDIA Quantum or Spectrum head-end switches for guaranteed link-up.
Q. What condition is supplied by T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS?
Refurbished Grade A. Every unit is bench-tested by T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS on a live HDR test fabric — link establishment on the single end and both split ends, DDM read-out (temperature, voltage, optical TX/RX power), EEPROM vendor data check, and cosmetic inspection.
