Engineering Context
The MCP7Y50-N002 uses 100Gb/s PAM4 lane signaling: the 800G OSFP end carries 8 lanes of 100G PAM4, while each 200G OSFP leg carries 2 lanes of 100G PAM4. The result is perfect electrical symmetry — 1x 800G into 4x 200G with no lane remapping or speed conversion. The cable uses 28 AWG twinaxial conductors with a Low Smoke Zero Halogen jacket. At 2 meters, signal margin is comfortable for passive copper at NDR rates and the cable is less stiff than 3m variants.

Compatibility & Constraints
Compatible with NVIDIA Quantum-2 OSFP-based NDR switches and NDR200-capable OSFP endpoints. Both ends require OSFP cages — this is not a QSFP112 or QSFP-DD cable. Not compatible with HDR / QSFP56 hosts: HDR 200G uses 4x 50G PAM4, while NDR200 uses 2x 100G PAM4 — the lane structures differ and the connectors are physically different. Not compatible with 400GbE Ethernet QSFP-DD or any non-InfiniBand hardware. As a passive DAC, reach is fixed at 2m.
