NVIDIA Mellanox MCP7Y10-N002 800Gb/s NDR Passive Copper Splitter, OSFP to 2x QSFP112, 2m: This is a 2-meter passive copper Direct Attach Cable (DAC) splitter that breaks one 800Gb/s OSFP NDR port into two independent 400Gb/s QSFP112 links. NVIDIA P/N: 980-9I929-00N002. This is a passive copper assembly with no DSP, retimers, or active optics. This is NOT a transceiver, AOC, or 400GbE QSFP-DD Ethernet breakout. Engineering Context

The MCP7Y10-N002 uses 28 AWG twinax conductors with PAM4 lane signaling at 100Gb/s per lane. The upstream OSFP carries 8 PAM4 lanes (8x100Gb/s = 800Gb/s NDR), and the splitter remaps these into 2x QSFP112 connectors of 4 lanes each (4x100Gb/s = 400Gb/s per leg). The cable is rated for InfiniBand NDR signaling and has an LSZH jacket for data center fire-safety compliance. Pulltab color is black. As a passive cable, it draws no power and adds negligible insertion latency compared with optical alternatives.

Used in NVIDIA Quantum-2 (NDR) OSFP switches breaking out to ConnectX-7 QSFP112 NICs. Common in AI and LLM training pods where 800G NDR spines connect to 400G compute leaves. Useful during 400G to 800G fabric migrations where existing 400G endpoints must remain in service. Suited to in-rack and adjacent-rack runs where 2 meters fits between Top-of-Rack switch and compute nodes.

Compatibility & Constraints

Compatible with NVIDIA Quantum-2 NDR OSFP switches when the OSFP port is configured for 2x 400G breakout mode, and with ConnectX-7 QSFP112 400Gb/s adapters. Not compatible with QSFP-DD 400GbE Ethernet switches, QSFP56 HDR adapters, or non-NDR InfiniBand fabrics. Both downstream legs must terminate in 400G PAM4-capable endpoints; mixing into 100G NRZ ports is not supported. This is a fixed-length factory assembly — no field re-termination.
