The NVIDIA Mellanox® MCP7Y00-N001 is a Passive OSFP-to-OSFP Splitter Cable engineered for Twin-Port NDR systems. It takes one 800Gb/s OSFP port and splits it into two 400Gb/s OSFP connections — NOT QSFP112.
This is an extremely rare and highly specialized cable type used in:
OSFP-based NICs running in 2×400G split-port mode
Liquid-cooled or non-RHS switch/NIC configurations
GPU node pod wiring where OSFP is required on all ends
Compact topologies where high-bandwidth OSFP fan-out is needed
Because this is a Flat-Top OSFP, it is intended for systems that do not require RHS (Riding Heat Sink) cooling modules. It should not be used inside air-cooled Quantum-2 switches unless explicitly supported.
The passive 1m design offers zero latency, zero power, and maximum reliability, but is physically stiff due to the copper gauge required for NDR speeds.
