NVIDIA Mellanox MCP7H50-H02A 200Gb/s QSFP56 Passive Copper Splitter (Hybrid DAC) Cable, 2.5m LSZH: This is a 2.5-meter passive copper Direct Attach Cable (DAC) that splits one 200Gb/s QSFP56 port into two independent 100Gb/s QSFP56 connections. It is fully passive — no FEC retimer, no electronics, no power draw — and is intended for short, in-rack interconnects between HDR/200GbE-class switches and 100Gb/s endpoints. This is not a transceiver, not an Active Optical Cable, and not an active electrical cable. This is a new, factory-sealed unit.

Engineering Context

The MCP7H50 family bridges the HDR/200GbE generation to two HDR100 / 100GbE endpoints, doubling effective port density on the 200Gb/s side. The 200Gb/s QSFP56 end carries 4 lanes of 50Gb/s PAM4 signaling. Each 100Gb/s QSFP56 end carries 2 lanes of 50Gb/s PAM4 (HDR100). Because the cable is passive, signal integrity is governed by conductor gauge: the 26AWG wire used in the H02A variant supports the full 2.5m reach. The Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) jacket emits minimal smoke and no halogenated byproducts under thermal stress, meeting strict data-center fire-safety codes. Power consumption is 0W.

Compatibility & Hard Constraints

Designed for the NVIDIA Quantum HDR and Spectrum-2 family on the 200Gb/s end, paired with ConnectX-5 or ConnectX-6 adapters in HDR100 / 100GbE mode on the breakout ends. The 200Gb/s and 100Gb/s ends are not interchangeable — the single QSFP56 end must seat in a 200G-configured port. Not compatible with EDR-only (100Gb/s native) ports that lack splitter support. Does not break out to SFP28 or QSFP28 form factors — both ends are QSFP56. Length is fixed at 2.5m and cannot be extended.
