Compatibility & Hard Constraints
The MSN4700-WS2R is Ethernet only — the Spectrum-3 ASIC does NOT support InfiniBand. Onyx NOS is pre-installed; converting to ONIE (required for SONiC or Cumulus) may require NVIDIA support and is NOT a standard field operation. For SONiC or Cumulus, purchase the WS2FO, WS2RO, WS2RC, or WS2FC variant. The C2P airflow direction is the OPPOSITE of the WS2FO/WS2FC (P2C) — mixing airflow directions in the same rack causes thermal hotspots. QSFP-DD ports are backward-compatible with QSFP28 and QSFP56 optics but full 400GbE requires QSFP-DD optics or DACs. Maximum per-port speed is 400GbE — for 800GbE, the Spectrum-4 SN5600 platform is required. The Spectrum-3 predecessor is the Spectrum-2 SN3700 (100GbE).
