The MSN3800-CS2F is a P2C (Power-to-Connector) airflow variant intended for racks where cold air enters from the PSU side. This is the Onyx-managed SKU — it ships with Mellanox Onyx OS pre-installed and supports L2/L3 routing, EVPN/VXLAN, automation, and streaming telemetry out of the box. This is NOT a 200GbE QSFP56 switch and IS NOT a 400GbE QSFP-DD switch. This is a refurbished unit.

Engineering Context

The MSN3800-CS2F is built around the NVIDIA Spectrum-2 silicon, which provides line-rate L2/L3 forwarding, deep packet buffers, programmable telemetry, and hardware support for RoCEv2 and adaptive routing at 100GbE. Each of the 64 QSFP28 ports runs at 100GbE (4x25G NRZ) for an aggregate switch capacity of 6.4 Tb/s. The 2U chassis houses dual hot-swappable redundant AC PSUs, multiple hot-swappable fan modules, and an x86 management CPU running Onyx. P2C airflow draws cold air from the PSU/fan rear face and exhausts hot air at the port-side front face, which is suited to racks designed for reverse airflow.

Compatible with QSFP28 100GbE optics and DACs (NVIDIA MMA1B00-C100, MFA1A00-C-series AOCs, MCP1600 series passive copper) and QSFP+ 40GbE modules at backward-compatible rates with proper port configuration. Supports 4x25GbE breakout to SFP28 endpoints with breakout cables. NOT a QSFP56 200GbE switch — cannot accept native 200GbE optics; for 200GbE the equivalent platform is the MSN4600 series. NOT an InfiniBand switch — for HDR InfiniBand fabrics the QM8700 is the equivalent SKU. NOT a C2P airflow unit; for standard front-to-back cooling racks the equivalent SKU is MSN3800-CS2R (or CS2RC for HV PSU). The Spectrum-2 ASIC predates Spectrum-3 SN4000 features and Spectrum-4 SN5000 features; advanced features tied to newer silicon are not available.
