Engineering Context
The Twin-Port design doubles the effective port count of OSFP switches. A 32-cage OSFP switch equipped with MMS4X50-NM modules provides 64 logical 400G ports. Each of the two optical engines operates independently using 4-channel 100G-PAM4 CWDM4 modulation over a single fiber pair (Duplex LC). The FR4 interface extends reach to 2km over OS2 single-mode fiber, compared to 100m for DR4/DR8 parallel solutions. The module presents as two separate interfaces to the switch OS. The finned OSFP housing dissipates 17W maximum power into the switch airflow. Dual-protocol firmware automatically detects InfiniBand (Quantum-2) or Ethernet (Spectrum-4) switch type.
