This enterprise InfiniBand optical transceiver, the NVIDIA Mellanox MMA4Z00-NS400, is a short-reach multimode optical transceiver module for 400Gb/s NDR InfiniBand connectivity in OSFP form factor. The MMA4Z00-NS400 uses VCSEL-based 850nm optics with an MPO12 APC fiber connector and supports distances up to 50 meters over OM4 multimode fiber. Engineering Context
The MMA4Z00-NS400 provides 400Gb/s NDR InfiniBand throughput using 8x 50Gb/s PAM4 lanes over 850nm VCSEL optics. The OSFP form factor supports the thermal and electrical requirements of NDR signaling. At 50 meters over OM4 fiber, this module is intended for intra-rack and adjacent-rack connections in HPC clusters and AI training environments. The MPO12 APC connector uses angled physical contact to minimize back-reflection. The MMA4Z00-NS400 is the OSFP multimode variant — for QSFP112 form factor, see MMA1Z00-NS400. For single-mode long-reach (500m+), use MMS4X00-NS variants.

InfiniBand NDR Only: This transceiver is designed for NDR InfiniBand fabrics. It does not support Ethernet. OSFP Form Factor: Requires OSFP-capable ports (ConnectX-7 NDR with OSFP, Quantum-2/3 switches). Not compatible with QSFP-DD or QSFP28 ports. For QSFP112 form factor, use MMA1Z00-NS400. Multimode Only: Requires OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber with MPO12 APC connectors. Not compatible with single-mode fiber. For single-mode, use MMS4X00-NS series. Distance Limit: 50m maximum on OM4. For longer distances, single-mode transceivers are required. Predecessor: HDR 200G OSFP transceivers. Successor: XDR/NDR800 OSFP transceivers (future).
