NVIDIA Mellanox MCP7H60-W001 400GbE QSFP-DD to 2× 200GbE QSFP56 Passive Copper Splitter DAC, 1m, 30AWG: This is a 1-meter passive copper splitter cable. One QSFP-DD end carries 400GbE (8× 50G PAM4) and breaks out into two QSFP56 ends, each carrying 200GbE (4× 50G PAM4). This IS a 1-to-2 fan-out cable that consumes one QSFP-DD port on the switch side and two QSFP56 ports on the host side. This is NOT a straight 400G QSFP-DD-to-QSFP-DD cable, and NOT an active optical assembly. This is a refurbished unit, tested by T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS.
Engineering Context
The 400GbE QSFP-DD interface uses 8 lanes of 50 Gb/s PAM4. This splitter takes 4 of those lanes to the first QSFP56 leg (200GbE) and the remaining 4 to the second QSFP56 leg (200GbE). It is passive copper at 30 AWG, so the cable draws 0 W and adds essentially no latency beyond cable propagation. At 1m, the assembly is well within the passive reach budget for 200G PAM4 per leg. Splitter DACs are the standard way to densify a 400G switch into 200G servers without burning 1 switch port per server.
Deployment & Use Cases
400GbE switch port fan-out into 2× 200GbE server adapters (e.g., ConnectX-6 200G hosts hanging off a 400G ToR). Spectrum-3 / Spectrum-4 ToR aggregation onto QSFP56-equipped storage or compute nodes. AI/HPC pods where the switch is 400G and NICs are 200G. Cost-efficient density growth on 400G switches without optical break-out modules.

Compatibility & Constraints
Compatible with NVIDIA Spectrum-3 / Spectrum-4 switches with QSFP-DD 400G ports configured for 2× 200G breakout, paired with ConnectX-6 (or newer) 200G QSFP56 adapters. The switch port MUST be configured for breakout (split) mode — straight 400G mode will not work with this cable. Both QSFP56 legs are required to be connected for full 400G utilization on the switch side; using only one leg leaves the other 200G of capacity idle. This is an Ethernet splitter SKU; not validated for InfiniBand HDR/NDR signaling. Bend radius is tighter at 30 AWG — route carefully to avoid kinking near connectors.
Why T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS
T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS verifies EEPROM identity on each leg, lane mapping, and end-to-end continuity on every splitter DAC before shipment. Handling time is 1–3 business days, with global shipping and engineer-led breakout-mode configuration support.
