The MCP1600-E002 is built for short EDR InfiniBand interconnects where reach is under 3m and passive copper is preferred for power and cost reasons. As a fully passive cable it draws 0W from the host port and adds essentially no latency beyond the wire delay. It carries 4 lanes at 25Gb/s NRZ (4x EDR) for an aggregate 100Gb/s InfiniBand link. The 2m length is the most common DAC size for HCA-to-ToR runs and provides moderate slack for cable management. Twinaxial copper at this length is well within EDR signal-integrity margins.
