Engineering Context
The ConnectX-2 EN silicon delivers full line-rate 10GbE per port with stateless TCP/UDP/IP offloads, Large Send Offload (LSO), Large Receive Offload (LRO), and RSS to reduce host CPU load. The card supports IEEE 802.3ad LACP link aggregation, 802.1Q VLAN tagging, and 802.1Qbb priority flow control for lossless DCB fabrics. RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) is supported in hardware, enabling kernel-bypass storage traffic. Aggregate line rate is 20 Gb/s (10 Gb/s x 2 ports) over a PCIe 2.0 x8 host link.

Compatibility & Hard Constraints
Compatible with Linux mlx4_en driver (kernel 2.6.30 and later), Windows Server WinOF, and VMware ESXi 5.x to 6.x with legacy ConnectX-2 drivers. ESXi 7.0 and later removed native ConnectX-2 support; this adapter is not suitable for greenfield ESXi 7/8 deployments. SFP+ transceivers and DAC cables are sold separately. The MNPH28B-XTC is a 10GbE-only card and does not negotiate to 40GbE or InfiniBand. ConnectX-2 has reached end-of-support under NVIDIA; firmware updates are no longer issued.
