Both ends use OSFP RHS (Riding Heat Sink, Finned-Top) connectors required by NVIDIA Quantum-2 switch cages. Engineering Context

The MCA4J80-N002 implements the NDR twin-port architecture: each OSFP connector aggregates 8 differential lanes at 100Gb/s PAM4 (4 lanes per logical 400G port × 2 ports), giving 800Gb/s of usable bandwidth per cable end. Active Copper Cables embed redriver silicon at each connector to compensate copper insertion loss at NDR rates so that 2m runs are reliable, where passive DACs at 400G NDR are typically limited to 1.5m. The Finned-Top OSFP form factor is mandatory in Quantum-2 switch cages for thermal dissipation.

Compatibility & Hard Constraints

Compatible with NVIDIA Quantum-2 switches (MQM9700, MQM9790) and with NDR-capable OSFP RHS adapters in twin-port configurations. Both endpoints must accept Finned-Top OSFP — not compatible with Flat-Top OSFP cages. Twin-port operation requires the host port to be configured for twin-port (2x400G NDR) mode; in single-port mode, only one logical port will link up. Not compatible with QSFP-DD, QSFP112, or non-Quantum-2 switches. As an active copper cable, total reach beyond 2m is not supported by this part number.
